After a few lectures from various professors in the Geology department at UWG, I lean toward the "atheist" side of the Global warming issue . I have been wanting to dig in deeper lately, and your comments have made me want to further my research.

Even if we aren't the cause of Global Warming, we still need to have repect for the resources we take from the earth and seek to conserve resources for future generations' use. Human society could certainly plan itself better to live with nature instead of seeking to dominate her.

I drank the Kool-Aid, Blake. All it took for me to become a "believer" was An Inconvenient Truth and a few Al Gore speeches. I'm sold on it; it's our fault.

In all seriousness, I think natural variance is a possibility, but as I understand it, it doesn't happen as quickly as our current warming has taken place. We're on pace to have only a seasonal northern ice cap, which would have further effect on the global climate and has happened at a much faster rate than prior climate fluctuations.

I think green technology, eliminating our dependence on fossil fuels and developing smarter waste management should be American priorities at this point, even if global warming is a farce. The worst that could happen is we clean up our planet.

But good questions, Blake.

I think this sums up a lot of my feelings on the subject. This is a website that is probably too technical for most people (including myself) to read but it offers a science/statistics based approach to evaluating the data. It leans "athiest" but it's a good read.

#8 summed it up nicely. I don't think we will ever know the answer to global warming because there is too much money at stake. Politicians will push their agendas to get the resources to keep them in office. Scientists that want grant money will fudge the data or do incomplete testing on both sides of the equation. Too much is at stake.

If I had a gun to my head, I would say it was caused by the sun. To quote "every second the sun produces the same energy as about a trillion 1 megaton bombs! In one second, our sun produces enough energy for almost 500,000 years of the current needs of our so-called civilization."

I do love me some technology, so bring on the cleaner forms of energy, but I am leaning towards global warming as being largely produced by something other than human.
