I killed a deer with my Jeep on Dec. 1

This is the front grill of my 1999 Jeep Cherokee after colliding with a large deer while heading south on East Canyon Road just outside of Orem. You should have seen the deer.
I’m happy to report that Lindsey, Sadie, Maddie, and I are all fine — though it could have been much worse had I not just plowed through the thing, especially given the snowy conditions. Jeep is currently under repair at the body shop.
Immediately after hitting the prancing beast at 55 miles per hour and pulling over to power down my smoking engine, Sadie kept repeating, “Scary.” It was.

I want to see the deer. Don’t tell me you didn’t take a photo of it?! I ran over a deer carcass in my Hyundai once. Fur came out of the air vents, and the car smelled like cooking venison for weeks every time I turned the heater on.

This is what talks me out of getting a motorcycle.
Glad you and your family is okay.

Way to think fast, Blake. Did you actually think about braking and swerving? Or did you have enough time to know, “Okay — we’re hitting this thing”? I wish you had a picture of the deer on here, too . . . :(

@sara.
My gut reaction was to hit the breaks, which I only did gently after realizing that avoidance wasn’t an option.

Joined the club eh? I hit a huge buck between Boise and Las Vegas when Cami and Summer were little. I shrieked, were going to hit a deer, just after dad crawled into the folded down back seat curled up with Cami and Summer was on the front seat in her carrier. I headed for the stomach, figuring it would be the safest. SCARY is the Perfect word. Then of course, dad jumped out and started shooting with his pistol at ???? who knows what. The deer was already off the road. Another car came by seconds later and ran over all our stuff which spurted out of the front trunk when said deer hit.
All at 4:00 am in the dark! Then of course, Summer and I have hit more of them here close to the neighborhood. All together it makes 4 for me!Little sucka’s, jump out of nowhere!!! Good job steering.MOM
