First Microsoft, Seinfeld commercial is unfunny and ineffective
Behold, this is what Redmond is using to combat the effective and clever “I’m a Mac” ads. It’s bland, forgettable, and awkward — outside of the Spanish subtitles and quick shower scene.
I really like Seinfeld, and I’m a Windows XP user, but this is more Bee Movie and Office Paperclip style than anything else. Too bad.

Honestly, I haven’t liked much of anything that Seinfeld has done since he parted ways with Larry David … Now, if they had gotten David to do the commercials, THAT would be something.

I’m not normally a slow guy. I like churros. I like Seinfeld. I use Macs, but I’m not opposed to jumping on a PC, and I don’t think I have ever tried to convert everyone to Apple…even with all the posts I’ve written about Apple products. (Correct me if I’m wrong.)
I just don’t understand this commercial yet. I hope it’s the first in a series and that it will make sense over time.
In the meantime, I will be in the shower.
With my shoes off.

The commercial got a chuckle out of me, but it does nothing for Microsoft.

I think it would be a lot more effective if it started at the part where they emerge from the store, leaving the viewer to wonder why they were shoe shopping together.
Even then, it wouldn’t inspire most folks to buy Microsoft products. The weird thing is, it’s a commercial for the Microsoft brand and not a specific product.
MS has reason to freak out a little, though. I work at a business school and the majority (at least 60%) of this year’s new MBA students bought a Mac for school.

I actually liked the commercial and think it served its purpose, although it took a couple watches to appreciate it. When compared with Apple, etc., Microsoft has a completely different strategy it needs to pursue. At this point, trying to push a product or downplay a competitor would not be a wise choice. Instead, the ad needed to create a buzz and peak interest. This it has done. Microsoft needs a image overhaul, and it’s off to a decent start. I can’t wait to see the series and where they take it.
And while they do, I will continue to use my iMac :)
