I would only add one thing here, and that is: give credit when and where it's due. Always cite sources, and add hyperlinks when a term or proper noun may be unclear to the general audience.

The only thing I hate more than "Ulterior motives" are the disclosures for them.

No amount of sugar-coating can effectively neutralize the negative impact of surfing to a blog ranked high for popular keyphrases only to find out it leads to the solicitation of intimacy products.

In fact, I don't even like disclosures for things that are relevant.

We can all tell when someone is shamelessly self-promoting themselves. Just get to the point--sales is part of life. The people who are actually interested in the product will appreciate it.

If you feel like you need disclosure in order to solicit, try renaming your blog. (e.g. "Blake's Blog" becomes "Blake's Blog Shop")

That's all the disclosure you need right there--and you don't have to retype it every time. :)
